I spoke with about ten solar companies before finding Bob and Solar Design Studio. The other companies wanted to justify their high costs by pushing financing and emphasizing the tax credits and their predicted increase in electricity costs over the next 25 years. Very few would give me a straight answer on what the system would actually cost to install and those who did were extremely unreasonable. I'm so glad I found Bob! He was very upfront and honest with everything, designed a system to fit my needs and budget, and made the process very smooth from start to finish. As a consultant to KCPL Solar, Solar Design Studios and Bob Solger worked with my organization, Westside Housing Organization to place solar panels on a 110 year old, mixed-use residential and commercial building that we were renovating at 8th and Woodland Avenue in Kansas City, MO. We wanted the solar power to serve the residential electric needs on the second floor of the building, as well as common area lighting. The solar panels were funded through a foundation grant and had to be installed by a certain date when the grant year was closed. Installing solar panels in the midst of a major redevelopment of a 110 year old building and working within the requirements of a grant contract presented layers of complexity. Bob Solger handled these challenges beautifully, designing a system that worked for our needs and navigating the installation through permitting and supply issues, coordination with electrical contractors, and presentation to political leaders and funders. I cannot think of a better partner for this project.
